To fill an entire kilometre alongside the parcours of a race with rows of enthusiastic BEAT members and other lovers of cycling: that was and is the goal of the BEAT Kilometre. And one day we will make it happen. Of that we are certain.
After all, we have all the necessary ingredients: first-class pro races in this part of the world, and an ever increasing love of the sport with a growing audience worldwide. Add to this the motivation and efforts of the BEAT team, and the first steps in the right direction have already been taken. We are confident we will succeed in due course.
The people who made it to the first edition of the BEAT KM last Sunday during Liège-Bastogne-Liège were enthusiastic about the event. And they had good reason to be: an incredibly beautiful spot in the Houffalize area, on a nice uphill stretch of small road. A perfect spot to watch the publicity caravan, the lead group as well as the peloton pass by.
The rest of the afternoon was filled with snacks and a beer, and – of course – a screen to watch the race together inside the BEAT party kiosk. It was once again clear that experiencing a race is so much more fun than sitting in front of the television all by yourself. Especially if the riders present you with a pretty spectacular final.
Who’s up for the next edition?
